The large adjacent forest area is perfect for special exploration and leisurely outings all year round: Depending on the season, you can gather delicious berries or mushrooms during a walk, which you can then turn into a special camping meal on the camp stove or in the kitchen of our rental accommodations—mmm… simply delicious!

The area around Waldsee is characterized by tranquil waters, wooded landscapes, and wide trails—ideal for both peaceful and active moments.

The Franconian Lake District is one of Bavaria’s most diverse regions. From idyllic lakes to historic towns and family-friendly attractions, the area has something to suit every taste. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll, sightseeing tours, or adventures with the kids—the destinations are easily accessible and diverse.

Nature lovers will find numerous scenic overlooks, nature reserves, and peaceful spots along the water. Culture enthusiasts can explore historic towns, museums, and regional attractions—trips to the historic old town of Weißenburg (about 20 km), Schwabach, known for its gold-beating tradition (about 15 km), and the metropolis of Nuremberg with its Imperial Castle, museums, and lively old town (about 35 km). Families will enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities that combine fun and exercise.

Lake Roth and Lake Brombach are popular spots for sailors and surfers. Around the lake, our guests will find everything they need for an adventure-filled vacation.
In the Franconian Lake District, you’ll find a well-developed network of bike paths stretching over 400 km. It not only offers plenty of space for endurance athletes, but family bike rides are also well worth it simply because of the beautiful scenery.
Winter also has its charms in the Franconian Lake District. Go ice skating, try curling, or explore the expansive landscape on cross-country skis.
You can purchase day passes for fishing at Waldsee at our front desk (starting in May). If you’d also like to go on fishing trips in the surrounding area, the Franconian Lake District offers countless opportunities.
Once a year, the Challenge brings the world’s best triathletes to Roth to compete. One hundred thousand spectators cheer on the endurance athletes and spur them on to peak performance.

What sports can you do right at the campground?

There are plenty of activities to enjoy around the Waldsee: swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, jogging, biking, and Nordic walking all start right outside the door. There’s also a soccer field available for team sports.

Yes, you can rent pedal boats at the lake during the summer. Please check with the front desk for current availability and prices.

Absolutely! Several well-marked hiking and biking trails lead from the campground through forests, meadows, and along picturesque lakes. You can pick up free maps at the front desk.

During peak season , we offer camper festivals featuring soccer tournaments and guided hikes throughout the season . You can find all the dates on the notice board at the front desk or on our information board.

Yes—the area around Waldsee offers wonderful opportunities for cross-country skiing, winter hiking, or ice skating in the winter, when the lake is frozen over. This means staying active is a priority all year round.
